WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF HEARING AIDS?
Today’s digital and wireless hearing instruments sound more natural, automatically change settings in different listening environments, and are more comfortable than ever before. You will find there are a variety of hearing aid styles from which to choose. They range from invisible in your ear canal to virtually invisible behind your ear. The advances in technology have allowed for better hearing in noisy environments and virtually no feedback (whistling). The level of technology in the hearing aid is primarily what makes the difference in performance and price, but style also plays a role.
HOW DO I OBTAIN A HEARING AID?
Once you have completed the comprehensive hearing evaluation and hearing aid consultation, an order will be placed for the hearing aids. The hearing aids are typically ready to be fit 1-2 weeks after the order is placed.
Drs. Metropulos and Pollack will teach you how to operate your new hearing aids, how to clean them, and to change the batteries during the fitting appointment. Additionally, you will learn communication strategies and realistic expectations will be reviewed. We encourage you to invite your spouse or other friend/family member to attend the hearing aid fitting appointment to help educate him/her at the same time.
MAINTAINING YOUR HEARING AID
Most hearing aid repairs are due to moisture or earwax accumulating in the device. It is imperative that you clean your hearing aid every night when they are removed from your ear(s). Hearing aids are electronic devices and must be kept dry. A well-maintained hearing aid lasts an average of 5 to 6 years.
Hearing Aids Fort Lauderdale offers a 60 day trial period when you purchase your hearing aids. If you are not completely satisfied with your hearing aids, they can be exchanged or returned during the trial period. Contact us today to set up a consultation with our elite doctors.
